Tito, Paul and Lani will always greet you with Aloha
The Grass Shack Café was started by Paul and Lani McMahon in January of 2010.
Previous to moving to the Rogue Valley to start their restaurant, Paul and Lani operated a food truck in the Portland area that offered similar fare. The menu items are representative of Hawaiian-style “Plate Lunch” which encompasses an ethnic main course, two scoops of rice, and macaroni salad (on most plates). This cuisine was reminiscent of Hawaii’s plantation days, when workers brought their respective culture’s fare to the lunch break – sharing ideas and recipes between their Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, and Philippino co-workers.
Lani is a native of Hawaii, and Paul’s roots are Oregon and California.
